Interactive Phone Tutorials

You can locate your phone model by looking at the upper right corner of your phone. Models are 794X and 796X and 797X. IP phone 886X isn't labeled, but has 5 buttons on the left side of the screen and 5 buttons on the right side of the screen. NOTE: Some tutorials will look different than your desk phone, but has the same functionality and feature sets.

How to Make a call

These instructions are for how to Place a phone call.

Option 1: Lift the handset and dial the number.

Option 2: Press the NewCall softkey and dial the number.

Option 3: To use the speakerphone, press SPEAKER and then dial the number.

Option 4: If using a headset, press Headset and then dial the number.

Option 5: Dial the number and press the Dial softkey


Emergency: 911 or 9 + 911 (will go out local phone lines)

Local call (7-digit dial): 9 + 7 digit number

Long Distance: (1 + 10-digit dial) 9 + 1 + Area Code + 7 digit number

Toll Free Calls (800, 866, 877, 888): 9 + 1 + 800 + Number (or 9 + 1 + 888 + Number), etc

International: 9 + 0 + 11 + Country code + City Code Number (may end with #)


How to Answer a call

These instructions are for how to answer a phone.

Option 1: Lift the handset.

Option 2: To use the speakerphone, press the ANSWER softkey or the SPEAKER button.

Option 3: If using a headset, press the ANSWER softkey.


How to End a Call

These instructions are for how to end a call

Option 1: If using the handset, hang up the handset.

Option 2: If using the headset, press the EndCall softkey. This method also works for all speaker modes.

Option 3: If using the speakerphone, press SPEAKER.


How to Transfer a call

These instructions are how to transfer a phone call
  1. To transfer calls, press the Transfer softkey.
  2. Dial the number to which you wish to transfer the call (this establishes a new call).
  3. Hit the transfer softkey again to complete the transfer


How to Transfer a call to Voicemail

These instructions are for how to transfer a caller to a voicemail box
  1. Press the Transfer softkey.
  2. Type *4digit extension, example *3908
  3. Hit the transfer softkey again to complete the transfer


How to Call Forward

These instructions are for how to call forward your phone number to another number/extension
  1. Press the CFwdALL softkey.
  2. Enter the number to which you want to forward all your calls. (See information below)
  3. To cancel forwarding of all calls, press the CFwdALL softkey.


Forward to Voicemail: Press the messages button

Forward to internal number: 4 digit extension, exampl 3999

Forward to external number: 9 + 7 digit number, example 97759999 (You cannot forward to a long distance number)


How to Place a Call on Hold

These instructions are for how to place a call on hold
  1. To place a call on hold, press the HOLD softkey.
  2. To return to the call, press the RESUME softkey.

Note: If multiple calls are on hold, use the scroll key to select the desired call before you press RESUME.


How to facilitate a Conference call

These instructions are how to start a conference call
  1. Call the first phone number
  2. After the end user picks up, press the More softkey
  3. Press the Confrn(Conference) softkey
  4. Type in the phone number
  5. Wait for the user to answer
  6. Tell the user you are getting ready conference them in
  7. Press the Confrn(Conference) softkey to bridge the call
  8. Repeat these steps to add additional users

Note: You can skip step 1 if the person has called you first.


How to setup Voicemail

These are step by step instructions on how to setup your voicemail box for the first time.
  1. Press the Messages and follow the voice instructions.
  2. The default PIN is 124578. (You must change your PIN the first time you login to voicemail)
  3. Your password has to be a minimum of 4 digits.
  4. After you have completed the instructions your voicemail is now setup


How to check Voicemail Internally

These instructions are for how to check voicemail Internally

Option 1: Press the Messages button and then 1 for Voice Mail. Follow the voice instructions.

Option 2: Press the Messages button and then 2 for Visual Voice Mail. Follow the Onscreen menu.

Note: The red light on your handset lights when you have a Voicemail message. The LCD also displays a text message indicating the number of Voicemail messages in your mailbox.

How to check Voicemail Externally

These instructions are for checking voicemail externally

Option 1: Dial into your 7 digit DID and press the “ * “ button when voicemail answers.

Option 2: Dial the Toll Free voicemail access number (Andover: 316-218-6099; El Dorado: 316-323-6099).

  1. Enter your ID (this is your 4-digit extension number) then press “ # “
  2. Enter your PIN
  3. Listen to menu and follow the instructions.

How to check Missed, Received, and Placed calls

These instructions are how to check Missed, Recieved and Placed Calls
  1. Press the Directories button (Looks like a book)

Press 1 for Missed Calls

Press 2 for Received Calls

Press 3 for Placed Calls

Use the center up and down arrows to browse through the calls

Note: To exit out of the messages, directories, services or settings buttons, press the same button again


How to use the Employee Directory

These instructions are for using the Employee Directory
  1. Press the Directories Button (looks like a book)
  2. Press 5 – Corporate Directory.
  3. Enter Search Terms.


How to use the Personal Directory

This is how to setup and use your Personal Directory and Speed Dials for your phone

Setting up Personal Contacts/Speed Dials

  1. Open a Web Browser
  2. Go to https://10.13.1.10/ucmuser (Only accessible from your work PC)
  3. Log in with your Network Credentials
  4. Select your phone in the left pane (it will begin with a SEP)
  5. Click on Contacts located at the center top
  6. Click Add new
  7. Enter the Contacts information
  8. Select a Speed Dial if desired
  9. Click ok

Accessing Personal Directory

  1. Press the Directories button
  2. Press 4 for Personal Directory
  3. Sign in with your username and voice mail pin
  4. Select 1
  5. Enter information or just hit submit to view all contacts

How to use Speed Dials

  1. Press the Speed Dial number associated to the user you setup previously
  2. Press AbbrDial softkey

Phone Number Prefixes

This will explain what prefix you use with your extension

6000 block numbers

Wichita Local prefix is 218, example 218-6999
El Dorado Local Prefix is 323, example 323-6999

3000 block numbers

Wichita Local prefix is 733, example is 733-3999
El Dorado Local Prefix is 322, example is 322-3999
