Jabber

Jabber is our Unified Communications solution for Campus Wide collaboration. Users can use it for instant messaging, Corporate directory, phone calls, and presences (On a call, in a meeting, away, DND).

Jabber for Ipad Client Setup

  • User must be setup in Call Manager first, please check with the Unified Communications Administrator before proceeding
  • User must be connected to the wireless ssid voice or internal
  • User will need to download Jabber
  1. Download the Jabber App from the Itunes store
  2. Open Jabber
  3. Type in your email address
  4. Tap continue
  5. Select Unified Presence
  6. Tap in your network credentials
  7. Tap in the Cisco Instant Message and Presence (CIMP) Server Address (obtain this from the Help Desk or Unified Communications Administrator)
  8. Tap remember my password
  9. Tap log in
  10. Tap Yes when prompted to give access to your contacts
  11. After being logged in Tap Setup Video and Voice Calling account
  12. Click on Unified Communications Manager
  13. Enter your network username and password
  14. Tap Save
  15. Tap Done
  16. Tap on the settings sprocket in the upper right hand corner
  17. Scroll down and select Voicemail
  18. Type in your network credentials
  19. Tap Save
  20. Tap Done
  21. Jabber is now setup


Jabber for Windows Client Setup

Note user must be setup in Call Manager first, please check with the Unified Communications Administrator before proceeding

  1. Install Jabber for Windows located on Support Files\Cisco Jabber
  2. Launch Jabber
  3. Select Cisco Unified Presence under Server Type
  4. Select Use the Following Server under Login Server
  5. Enter the following information
    • Server Address: CIMP01
    • Domain: butlercc.edu
  6. Enter your network username and password
  7. Place a check in Sign me in when Jabber starts
  8. Click Sign in
  9. Click on the monitor with the phone in the middle of the screen located in the bottom right hand corner
  10. Click on use my phone for calls and select your phone
  11. Your Jabber setup is now complete

Jabber Calendar Settings

  1. Launch Internet Explore
  2. Go to Cisco Instant Message and Presence Server Address (obtain this from the Help Desk or Unified Communications Administrator)
  3. Under User Application Click on:
    • Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence User Options
  4. When "There is a problem with this website's security certificate" appears click on "Continue to this website (not recommended.)"
  5. Log in using Network Username and Password
  6. Upper Left hand corner click on User Opitions
    • Preferences
  7. Under Calendar settings change:
    • Include Calendar information in my Presence Status* OFF
    to
    • Include Calendar information in my Presence Status* ON
  8. Save and Close Internet Explorer

Jabber for Iphone Client Setup

This setup is for users who would like to have jabber on their Iphone. The following prerequisites are as following:
  • User must be setup in Call Manager first, please check with the Unified Communications Administrator before proceeding
  • User must be connected to the wireless ssid voice or internal
  • User will need to download Jabber and Jabber IM

Jabber

  1. Under Device ID Type in TCTusername (This will be their AD username)
  2. TFTP Server (This is the CUCM Server, obtain this from the Help Desk or Unified Communications Administrator)
  3. Turn authentication on
  4. Type in network credentials
  5. Check yes on desk phone integration
  6. Type in network credentials
  7. Yes on you configure voicemail
  8. Enter the Voicemail Server Address (obtain this from the Help Desk or Unified Communications Administrator)
  9. Under corporate directory Tap continue

Jabber IM

  1. Select Unified Presence
  2. Select username and type in network credentials
  3. Enter the Server address of Cisco Instant Message and Presence (CIMP) Server Address (obtain this from the Help Desk or Unified Communications Administrator


Jabber Chat for Linux

  1. Install Pidgin with the package management service for the distribution of linux being used.
  2. Create an account using the following:
    Protocol - XMPP
    Screen Name - Network Username
    Domain - butlercc.edu
    Password - Network Password
    Under the advanced tab:
    Connect server - Cimp01
  3. User should be able to now login and chat to other Jabber users.
